Kenmore in Pacifica
Kenmore in Pacifica kitchens.
Pacifica sits right on the coast, and the salt air rolling in off Rockaway Beach and Sharp Park does real damage to anything with exposed metal, refrigerator compressors included. I see condenser coils and compressor terminals here corrode at an age where the same Kenmore inland would still look fine.
Linda Mar has a mix of older Whirlpool-built 106 series units and newer LG-built Kenmore Elites, and salt air corrosion shows up differently on each. The steel condenser fins on the older units go first, while the newer units tend to lose the compressor terminal box connections before anything else.
ADRIUM Service Solutions is based in San Ramon, and for Pacifica we route the technician stationed on the Peninsula, in San Mateo County. Owner Andrew Kuznetsov, EPA 608 Universal certified, CSLB #1136642. The $99 diagnostic is waived when you book the repair, quotes are written before any work starts, and we're out 7 days a week.

Common repairs we do
What we close on the truck.
- Condenser coil fins corroding and choking airflow. Coastal salt air pits and corrodes the thin aluminum fins on a condenser coil years before it would happen in a dry inland town. Once enough fins are gone, airflow drops, the compressor runs longer and hotter to compensate, and the fridge slowly loses its ability to hold temperature. I clean and inspect the coil on every Pacifica call, salt corrosion or not.
- Compressor terminal box connections corroding. The wiring terminals on the back of the compressor are exposed to whatever air gets into the utility room or garage, and in Pacifica that air carries enough salt to corrode the contacts over time. The result is an intermittent no-start that can look like a relay problem until I actually open the terminal cover and see the corrosion myself.
- Door gasket magnetic strip degrading faster near the coast. The magnetic strip inside a door gasket breaks down faster in salt air than the rubber around it, so a Pacifica fridge can have a gasket that looks fine but no longer holds the door shut tight. I check magnet strength along the whole perimeter, not just whether the rubber looks cracked.

FAQ
Kenmore in Pacifica questions, answered.
-
Can someone actually get out to Pacifica, or is it too far from San Ramon?
San Ramon to Pacifica is not a quick trip, which is exactly why we keep a technician living on the Peninsula, in San Mateo County. He covers Pacifica along with Daly City and San Bruno directly, so you're not waiting on a two-bridge drive. -
Is the salt air thing real, or is that just a sales pitch?
It's real, and it's the main reason Pacifica repairs skew toward corrosion related failures, condenser coils, terminal connections, gasket magnets, that I see less often even a few miles inland. I don't sell coil cleanings as some kind of miracle fix, but on a coastal refrigerator it's worth doing more often than the manual suggests. -
Should I keep my refrigerator somewhere other than the garage because of the coastal air?
If the garage door faces the ocean side or gets left open a lot, moving the unit or at least keeping the door shut helps. It won't stop corrosion completely, coastal air finds its way in regardless, but less direct exposure buys you real years on the coil and the compressor.
