When that valve sticks, one side drifts warm while the other holds perfectly steady. From the front it looks like a fan or defrost fault, so we force each side on and watch the coil temperatures. That pattern points at the three-way diverter valve. It is a sealed-system part, so the fix means recovering the refrigerant and brazing in a new valve, and our technician is EPA 608 Type I certified for that work.
Compressor trouble on LG-built units. LG-built Kenmores share LG's known compressor weaknesses. A refrigerator that runs constantly but cools poorly, or cycles and never gets cold, gets a compressor check: current draw, start behavior and the temperatures at the coils. If the compressor is failing, we give you the repair and replacement numbers side by side.
