Kenmore in El Cerrito
Kenmore in El Cerrito kitchens.
El Cerrito's housing stock skews older and settled, and Kenmore shows up across most of it. The 1940s to 1960s ranches and split-levels climbing off Moeser Lane and Barrett Avenue toward the ridge are often long-held family homes with the original kitchen intact, meaning the same Kenmore fridge from a decade or two back is still running. Down in the flats near San Pablo Avenue, the stucco bungalows run a mix of ages depending on when the last remodel happened.
A Kenmore badge does not tell me who actually built the fridge. Depending on the model year, it could be Whirlpool, LG, or Frigidaire underneath, so the first thing I do is read the prefix off the data plate before I so much as think about ordering a part. Skip that step on a long-held El Cerrito home and you can end up with the wrong compressor board on order for two weeks.
We're ADRIUM Service Solutions, based in San Ramon, EPA 608 Universal certified, and we hold CSLB license #1136642. The $99 diagnostic goes away once you approve the repair, and every repair carries a warranty from 3 months to 2 years, depending on the type of repair. Restaurant and bakery refrigeration along San Pablo Avenue and inside El Cerrito Plaza goes through our commercial division, Bay Area Refrigeration Service.

Common repairs we do
What we close on the truck.
- Temperature control thermostat on older top-freezers. A lot of the top-freezer Kenmores still running in El Cerrito's long-held family homes use a simple cold control that wears out over the years, either running the unit constantly or not at all. It's an inexpensive part when it tests bad, and I test it rather than assume, since a failed defrost circuit can look the same from the outside.
- Compressor start relay stuck clicking. A repeated clicking sound from the back of the box, paired with a fridge that's running warm, usually means the start relay quit dropping the compressor into gear. I see this most on units that have sat in the same hillside home for fifteen or twenty years, where the relay is simply worn out. I meter the compressor windings before I swap anything, so the fix actually holds.
- Door gaskets drying out on original-kitchen units. A kitchen that hasn't been redone in decades usually still has its original Kenmore, and the gasket on that fridge tends to fail from sun and age at the seam rather than from wear and tear. Once it stops sealing, the compressor works overtime and frost builds up inside the box. A gasket in the correct manufacturer profile fixes the seal for good.

FAQ
Kenmore in El Cerrito questions, answered.
-
How long does it take you to reach El Cerrito from San Ramon?
About 40 to 45 minutes, usually via 24 through the Caldecott to 80, sometimes 580 depending on traffic. We route El Cerrito together with our Berkeley and Richmond Inner East Bay days, and a booked window comes with a real arrival time. -
My family has owned the house for decades and the Kenmore fridge came with it. Is it even worth fixing?
Often, yes. Relay, gasket, or thermostat failures are worth repairing on almost any age unit, since those parts are cheap. A dead compressor or a sealed system leak on a fridge that old is a different call, and I'll tell you honestly at diagnosis if replacement makes more sense. -
I'm a landlord near the BART stations. Can you deal directly with whoever's renting from me?
That's a normal setup for us here. Send your approval on the written quote by phone or email, and I'll book the visit straight with the tenant. You still get the invoice and a summary of what was found once it's done, and the $99 diagnostic disappears from the bill once you sign off on the repair.
