Compressor start relay clicking in UC Village units. UC Village fridges run close to nonstop with families moving in and out, and the start relay is usually the first thing to wear out under that pace, clicking repeatedly without the compressor catching. I meter the compressor windings before swapping the relay so we know the fix will hold under that kind of use.
Temperature control thermostat in tight galley kitchens. The cold control on older Kenmore units in Albany's bungalow kitchens wears out over the years and either runs the unit constantly or not enough, and in a small galley kitchen that shows up fast as spoiled food or a frosted-over freezer. It's a cheap part, and I test it instead of assuming, since a failed defrost circuit mimics the same symptoms.
Door gaskets torn in basement and ADU units. In a lot of Albany's basement conversions and ADUs, the fridge sits close to a wall and the door doesn't swing fully open, which stresses the gasket at the hinge corner until it splits.
