Frozen-food display case warming between defrosts. When the defrost timer sticks, the coil either never defrosts and ices solid, or it stays in defrost and the case warms. Product near the top softens first. We test the timer, the heater and the termination switch, replace the failed part, and time a full cycle before we leave.
Torn gaskets keeping the compressor running. A reach-in door gasket with a split corner lets warm air in all day, even with the door closed. The compressor runs longer, the coil frosts, and energy use climbs. We replace the gasket, check that the door closes square, and look for other worn seals on the same cabinet.
