Hoshizaki in East Palo Alto
Hoshizaki commercial service.
East Palo Alto's commercial ice load comes mostly from the hotels and retail along University Avenue and the 101 corridor. Hotel ice rooms run bin-style Hoshizaki cubers feeding room service and banquet setups, often sharing a small mechanical space with the laundry, and that shared heat load causes its own set of problems on top of the usual water-side wear.
The ice room heat is the pattern I watch for here. A condenser already working against Bay Area summer temperatures gets pushed harder when it's sharing airspace with dryer exhaust and laundry steam, and the compressor starts short-cycling on head pressure. On the retail side, older service lines in this corridor carry more sediment than newer Peninsula plumbing, so inlet valve screens clog faster than they would somewhere like Menlo Park.
We're ADRIUM Service Solutions, San Ramon based and owner-operated, CSLB #1136642, EPA Section 608 Universal certified. The diagnostic is $99 and gets waived when you book the repair. Written quote before we touch anything, 7 days a week.
Common repairs we do
What we close on the truck.
- Condenser fouling in shared ice and laundry rooms. Hotel ice machines sharing a mechanical space with the laundry pick up lint and run in warmer air than the rating assumes, and the compressor starts short-cycling on high head pressure. I clean the condenser coil, check the room's actual ambient temperature against Hoshizaki's spec, and flag it if the space needs its own ventilation rather than shared exhaust.
- Sediment-clogged water inlet valve screens. Older service lines feeding the University Avenue corridor carry more sediment than newer plumbing elsewhere on the Peninsula, and the Hoshizaki inlet valve screen clogs faster because of it. Fill times stretch and the machine throws a water-system error. I clear the screen, check the valve seat for wear, and replace it if it's weeping into the reservoir.
- Bin thermostat false high-temp alarms. A banquet-size bin thermostat that's drifted will call a full bin empty or trip a high-temp alarm on ice that's perfectly fine, which is a bad surprise before an event. I test the thermostat against actual bin temperature and replace it if it's out of range, rather than let a hotel find out the hard way during a banquet.

FAQ
Hoshizaki in East Palo Alto questions, answered.
-
Why does our hotel's ice machine keep short-cycling even though it's not that old?
In East Palo Alto the usual reason is the mechanical space, not the machine's age. A lot of ice rooms here share airspace with the laundry, and that extra heat and lint load pushes the condenser past what it's rated for. I check ambient temperature and coil condition before I look at anything else, since replacing a compressor won't fix a room that's too hot. -
Can you service a bin-style Hoshizaki for a hotel banquet setup, not just a small restaurant cuber?
Yes. Banquet-size bin units and their thermostats are common work for us on this corridor. I test the bin thermostat against real temperature, service the water side, and check the condenser room's airflow, since a banquet ice failure the night before an event is the kind of call we plan our route around. -
How quickly can you get to East Palo Alto if a hotel's ice system goes down?
We have a technician who's based on the Peninsula now, in San Mateo County, so East Palo Alto doesn't mean a drive up from San Ramon anymore. We'll confirm a written arrival window when you call, based on the day's actual schedule rather than a guess, and we take calls every day of the week.
