Delfield in San Pablo

Delfield commercial service.

Mobile and milk coolers are the Delfield units that move. They get rolled out to a serving line, pushed back against a wall and plugged into whatever outlet is closest. Wherever one works in San Pablo, off San Pablo Avenue, along Rumrill Boulevard or in a school or cafeteria kitchen, many of its problems start with all that moving.

A cooler shoved tight to the wall has nowhere to put its heat. A cord run over by a cart fails without warning. A drain pan that tips when the cooler rolls spills water on the floor. We check all of it along with the refrigeration. Our technician for this part of Contra Costa County is based in Benicia. The $99 diagnostic, credited toward the repair, comes first, and a written quote follows before any work. CSLB #1136642.

Common repairs we handle.

  • Milk cooler warm after it was moved. Push a cooler flat against a wall and the condenser breathes its own hot air. We pull it out, clean the coil, check the condenser fan and mark the floor or fit a bumper so it stays at the clearance the manual calls for.
  • Power cord or plug damaged by carts and casters. A cord that has been run over or pinched can break inside the jacket, and the cooler cuts out whenever it moves. We test the cord and plug, replace them with the correct rating and route the new cord where casters will not reach it.
  • Control cycling the compressor too often. Short cycling wears a compressor out. A sensing bulb knocked out of place during a move, or a control that has drifted, starts and stops the compressor far more than it should. We reseat or replace the sensor and set the control for the product.

FAQ

Delfield in San Pablo questions, answered.

  • Our milk cooler is plugged into an extension cord. Is that a problem?
Yes. Extension cords drop voltage, and a compressor starting on low voltage runs hot and can trip its overload. Plug the cooler into a properly rated outlet of its own. If the outlet is too far from where the cooler works, an electrician can add one.
  • Is it safe to roll a Delfield mobile cooler while it is running?
Unplug it first, move it, and plug it back in once it is in place. Rolling a running unit drags the cord and can slosh the condensate pan. Check that the cooler sits level where it stops, so the doors close and the drain works.
  • Do you cover San Pablo East and the area around Contra Costa College?
Yes. All of San Pablo is in our area, from San Pablo East to the blocks around Contra Costa College and along Rumrill Boulevard. Let us know when your line is serving and we schedule the diagnostic outside those hours when we can.
