Bryant in Mountain View
Bryant heating and cooling in Mountain View.
Mountain View is a mix that keeps us on our toes. You have pre-war bungalows in Old Mountain View, mid-century Eichlers near Cuesta and Monta Loma with their flat roofs and no attic, and newer high-density condos near the transit center. The Eichlers in particular were built with radiant or wall systems and no ductwork, so Bryant ductless and Bryant Evolution heat pumps are common retrofits here.
The climate is bay-moderated and mild, so heat pumps make a lot of sense in this town, and many homeowners have already moved off gas to a Bryant heat pump. We service the ducted Bryant Preferred and Evolution systems and the ductless multi-zone retrofits through Bay Area HVAC Service.
We are EPA 608 Universal certified and A2L certified for R-454B, so newer Bryant equipment is covered. The $75 diagnostic is waived when you approve the repair, and every job comes with a written quote.
Common repairs we do
What we close on the truck.
- Ductless head not cooling on Eichler retrofits. In the flat-roof Eichlers with no attic, Bryant ductless heads are mounted on walls and fed by line sets run outside. A common failure is a clogged condensate drain or a frozen indoor coil from low charge. I clear the drain, check the line set for a slow leak, and verify the charge instead of just topping it off.
- Evolution heat pump dropping to backup heat in mild weather. Mountain View rarely gets cold, so a Bryant Evolution heat pump should almost never call backup electric or gas heat. When it does in mild weather, it usually means a thermistor read error or a communicating fault. I pull the system fault history off the control and trace the sensor rather than letting it burn expensive backup heat.
- ECM blower motor or module on Preferred air handlers. The variable-speed ECM blowers in Bryant air handlers here can fail at the motor module while the motor itself is fine, or the other way around. You get no airflow or a motor that twitches and stops. I test the module and motor separately so we replace only the part that actually failed.

FAQ
Bryant in Mountain View questions, answered.
-
Do you come to Mountain View from San Ramon, and how do you route it?
Yes, Mountain View is in our area. We run down the Peninsula side, and Menlo Park and Palo Alto are neighbors right on that approach, with Los Altos and Sunnyvale bordering the other edges of town. We book Mountain View seven days a week. -
My Eichler has no ducts. Can Bryant equipment still heat and cool it?
Yes. We retrofit ductless Bryant systems into Eichlers and other no-duct homes, with wall heads and outside line sets so we do not tear up your flat roof or radiant slab. We map out head placement and give you a written quote at the estimate. -
Can you service a newer Bryant heat pump with R-454B refrigerant?
Yes. We are A2L certified for R-454B, the refrigerant newer Bryant heat pumps use. We carry the correct recovery and leak detection for the A2L class, so a recent install is fully serviceable by us.
