El Cerrito's housing runs mostly 1940s through 1960s, ranches and split-levels climbing the hills off Moeser Lane and Barrett Avenue toward the Wildcat Canyon ridge, with stucco bungalows filling the flats near San Pablo Avenue. Most of these homes were built with real ductwork, unlike a lot of Berkeley's older Craftsman stock, so central Bryant furnaces and heat pumps are common here rather than the exception.
