Bryant in Albany
Bryant heating and cooling in Albany.
Albany is 1.8 square miles of tightly packed 1920s and 1930s stucco and wood bungalows on the Marin Avenue grid, most of them built with no ductwork and no real path to add it without tearing into plaster and lath. Central air conditioning is close to nonexistent in Albany's older stock. Bryant ductless heat pumps are the practical fit for most of these houses, delivering both heat and enough cooling for the handful of warm days a year without opening up walls.
Where Albany does have central Bryant equipment, it's typically in a home near Albany Hill or in the slightly larger houses closer to the Solano Avenue side that had ducts added during a past remodel. We also see Bryant ductless heads serving basement units and ADUs that Albany homeowners have added for extra income, and the university family housing along Buchanan Street near UC Village occasionally brings us Bryant service calls as well.
HVAC calls go through Bay Area HVAC Service, our division within ADRIUM. We're licensed under CSLB #1136642, EPA Section 608 Universal certified, and A2L certified for R-454B refrigerant work. Andrew Kuznetsov owns the company and operates out of San Ramon.
Common repairs we do
What we close on the truck.
- Ductless head freezing on small-lot installs. Bryant ductless heads in Albany's compact bungalows freeze up when the filter is dirty or airflow is otherwise restricted, sometimes by a head mounted too close to a wall or in a tight basement conversion. We check the filter, coil, and charge, since short line-set runs on small lots can still be undercharged if they weren't verified properly at install.
- Undersized system struggling in ADU or basement conversions. A Bryant head sized for a bedroom sometimes gets asked to cover an added basement unit or ADU that was finished later without updating the equipment. The head runs constantly and never quite reaches setpoint. We measure the actual space and either resize the head or add a second zone.
- Communicating thermostat mismatch on retrofit systems. Someone swaps a Bryant Evolution thermostat for a generic smart stat and the staging logic breaks, so the system runs single-speed and louder than it should. We put the matched Bryant control back so the equipment ramps the way it was designed to.

FAQ
Bryant in Albany questions, answered.
-
How far is Albany from San Ramon?
About 40 to 45 minutes from our San Ramon base, usually via 580 or Highway 24 to 80. We route Albany with our Berkeley and Richmond stops on Inner East Bay days, so a booked window comes with a written arrival time before we head out. -
My Albany bungalow has no ducts. What are my options with Bryant?
A Bryant ductless system. We place heads in the rooms that need them and run the line set through an exterior chase or existing framing gaps, which fits Albany's small lots and tight house footprints without major construction. -
I added an ADU or finished my basement. Will my existing Bryant system cover it?
Usually not without changes. Albany's basement and ADU conversions are common, but the original system was rarely sized for the extra square footage. We measure the added space and tell you whether a second zone or a larger head is the right call.
