Portola Valley homes I service run mostly Oracle, Oracle Touch, and Dual Boiler machines, in the mid-century modern houses near Ladera and in the larger custom homes on wooded acreage toward Alpine Road. These are daily machines for households that treat espresso like part of the kitchen routine, not a hobby appliance. I work on them at the house. We are independent, hold no Breville authorization, and I tell every client that before I open the machine.

A number of properties on the outer roads run well water rather than the municipal supply, and well water can carry minerals that a standard filter does not catch, which changes how fast scale builds inside the machine.

I drive out from San Ramon and work at the counter, so a Dual Boiler or Oracle never has to leave your kitchen. I hold EPA 608 certification and operate under CSLB #1136642. You get a straight explanation of the failure, not a parts list guess.

What we repair on the bench.

Grinder dose drift on Oracle and Oracle Touch. Worn burrs or a fines-packed chute on these built-in grinders throw the dose off gradually, one shot sour, the next bitter, before anything looks visibly wrong. I pull the burrs, measure wear, clear the chute, and reset grind and dose so shots repeat. If the burrs need replacing I show you the wear numbers first, since fresh burrs change the grind setting.
Boiler temperature inconsistency on a Dual Boiler. Brew and steam heat run on separate boilers in the Dual Boiler and Oracle, and a shot that runs hot then cold usually traces to a heating element, a temperature sensor, or scale on the boiler wall throwing off the PID. I power-test each boiler, check the sensors, and look for buildup before touching anything, since a wrong guess on these machines gets expensive fast.
Well water scale on properties along the outer roads. Well water on the outer roads toward Skyline can carry minerals a standard inline filter passes right through, and a Breville running on it scales differently than one on municipal supply. I descale properly, check the boiler and valves for mineral buildup, and set a maintenance interval based on your actual water, not the schedule printed in the manual.
