Our Breville sits under an upper cabinet. Is that a problem?

It can be. Steam and heat rise into the cabinet, and a machine with no air around it runs hotter inside. Pull it forward when you steam and leave some space above it. If the cabinet bottom is already swelling, find the machine a new spot.

My Bambino shots got weak after I changed coffee. Is it the machine?

Maybe not. A new coffee can need a finer grind, and stale or pre-ground coffee pours faster. Try fresh beans ground finer first. If the shot still runs thin and the pump sounds weak, send it in for a bench check.

That changes the pickup more than the repair. We collect the machine from your unit or the front desk, whatever the building allows, and bring it back the same way.

On the bench, a Bambino or a Barista Pro gets the same checks as an Oracle: pressure at the group, brew and steam temperature, and a look inside for leaks and scale. EBMUD water is soft to moderate, so heavy scale is less likely here, and the seals, the burrs and the steam path are where we start.

Common repairs we do

What we repair on the bench.

Barista Pro grind setting that no longer changes the shot. If moving the grind setting does nothing to the shot, the burrs may be worn or packed with old coffee, or the upper burr may not be seated. We pull and clean the burrs, reseat the upper one, check wear, and dial in a shot before the machine goes back.
Bambino buttons that stop responding. Buttons that do nothing can mean a worn switch, a loose connector behind the panel, or water that has reached the controls. We open the case, test the switches and connections, dry and clean what we find, and quote the control board only if the rest checks out.
Drip tray on an Oracle filling faster than it used to. The Oracle and the Dual Boiler vent water into the drip tray through their valves as they heat and after each shot. If the tray fills much faster than before, a valve may be leaking through. We watch where the water comes from on a hot machine and replace the valve that leaks.
