Bosch in Benicia

Bosch in Benicia kitchens.

Most of Benicia's homes date from the 1970s to the 1990s, when the town grew into a bedroom suburb, and a kitchen update in one of them may well include a Bosch 800 Series French-door refrigerator. That model has a known weak spot in the freezer. The defrost heater runs, but the drain line freezes shut, meltwater pools, and the evaporator fan freezes into the back wall. You hear a loud rattle for about a week, then the fresh-food side starts to warm.

Our technician is based right here in Benicia. We thaw the line, replace the drain heater and the fan motor, and check the defrost cycle before closing the panel. The $99 diagnostic is credited toward the repair if you go ahead, and the quote is in writing before we start.

What the work looks like

A gas oven burner lighting clean after service.

A gas oven bake burner lighting with an even blue flame after service. The white bar is the glow-bar igniter, and when it weakens the oven will not heat even though it still glows.

Common repairs we handle.

  • Freezer fan rattling on an 800 Series French-door. The rattle is the fan blade striking ice that built up from a frozen drain line. We take off the rear freezer panel, melt the ice, clear the drain and fit a new drain heater and fan motor. Catching it at the rattle stage keeps the repair small.
  • Fresh-food side warming while the freezer holds. When the freezer is still cold but the fridge side creeps up, cold air from the freezer coil has stopped reaching it. That points to the iced fan or a defrost fault. We check both and read the NTC temperature sensors before replacing parts.
  • Wall oven cycling cold with no visible fault. Bosch wall ovens use a European-style hidden bake element under the oven floor. When it fails there is nothing to see; the oven just cycles cold and preheats slowly. We test it, and with the model number in hand ahead of time, the replacement is scheduled after the diagnosis.

FAQ

Bosch in Benicia questions, answered.

  • Benicia's water hardness varies. Does it matter for our Bosch ice maker?
It can. Benicia's supply blends State Water Project, Lake Berryessa and Lake Herman water, and moderately hard water slowly builds scale in the inlet valve. Changing the filter on schedule protects the valve. If ice slows down anyway, we test the flow at the valve.
  • The freezer fan was loud for a week and then went quiet. Is that good news?
Usually not. A fan that goes quiet has often frozen solid into the ice, and the fresh-food side will start warming soon. Move perishables to a cooler and book a visit. Leaving it running longer tends to make the repair bigger.
  • Do you repair Bosch induction cooktops too, or only fridges?
Both, along with wall ovens. Our Bosch work covers French-door and built-in refrigerators, induction cooktops and wall ovens. Tell us the model and any code on the display when you book.
