Bertazzoni in Orinda

Bertazzoni in Orinda kitchens.

Orinda sits on hillsides under oak canopy, from older homes near the village and the BART side to larger properties in Orinda Downs, Sleepy Hollow and the country-club neighborhoods. Many kitchens there were remodeled between 1998 and 2010. A dual-fuel range or wall oven from that stretch is well into the age where oven electronics give out, even when the burners and the finish still look new.

The oven control board is the part that ages worst. Years of baking heat wear on its relays and solder joints, and the symptoms show up as a blank display, an oven that heats and then quits, or buttons that stop answering. Our technician checks what feeds the board first, including the sensor and the wiring between them, because a bad sensor can make a healthy board look dead. The diagnostic is $99, and that $99 is credited toward the repair if you go ahead.

Common repairs we do

Common repairs we handle.

  • Blank display or dead controls on the oven side. When the oven goes dark but the cooktop still lights, we check power at the board, the thermal cutoff and the connectors. Only then do we test the board itself. Bertazzoni boards are imported, so we confirm the fault before ordering one.
  • Oven that heats, then shuts itself off. A board relay that drops out under load, a cooling fan that has stopped turning, or a thermal cutoff tripping early can each end a bake halfway through. We run the oven hot and watch which part lets go, then replace that part and repeat the test.
  • Burner that lights with a loud pop. Delayed ignition means gas gathers before the spark catches it. A dirty or damp electrode, a clogged port near the electrode, or a weak module is the usual cause. We clean and re-gap the electrode, clear the ports, and check spark strength at that burner.

FAQ

Bertazzoni in Orinda questions, answered.

  • Our Sleepy Hollow remodel dates from about 2005. Is the Bertazzoni oven board the likely problem?
It is one candidate, not the only one. At that age the board, the temperature sensor and the element or ignitor all carry some wear. We test them in order and replace the part that actually failed, since a board is the most expensive guess to get wrong.
  • Can you pull the range without damaging our finished cabinetry?
Yes. Our technician protects the floor and the cabinet edges, and slides the range out on its leveling legs only as far as the repair needs. Plenty of ignition and burner repairs are done from the top without moving the range at all.
  • The oven in our country-club house is original to a 2000s remodel. Can it still get parts?
Often, yes. Ignitors, sensors, elements and gaskets for older Bertazzoni ovens are still available in most cases, though some boards and trim pieces have been superseded. We check availability for your model before you commit to the repair.
