Atosa is back-of-house equipment in Palo Alto. The residential side here is Sub-Zero and Thermador in the Old Palo Alto and Eichler remodels, but the commercial accounts on University Avenue and California Avenue are where we see the brand. Cafes and restaurants that run a Hoshizaki cuber out front often have an Atosa MGF prep table and an MBF reach-in in the back, because the build-out budget went to the front and the line refrigeration had to come in cheap.
The calls track the platform. Prep tables clog at the condensate drain line from food debris dropping off the rail, and the symptom is water pooling under the unit. Reach-in gaskets stretch under counter-service volume and the box ices over once warm air gets in. Both run R290 propane refrigerant, which means the sealed-system work needs a hydrocarbon license. That's the gap that strands these units when a general shop can't open them.

- MGF prep-table drain-line clog. Condensate tube clogs and water pools under the unit. Pull, blow the line clear, fit an inline screen where the kitchen allows.
- MBF reach-in gasket and defrost. Stretched gasket ices the evaporator. Replace gasket, defrost the coil, verify the door seals all the way around.
- Evaporator fan motor replacement. Standard reach-in fail point. We carry the common sizes on the truck for a single-visit fix.
- R290 sealed-system diagnosis. Propane refrigerant. Hydrocarbon-licensed recovery, leak find, weigh-in, written documentation.

Is Atosa worth repairing or should I just replace it?
Repair, in most cases. Atosa is built to a price but the platform is straightforward and parts supply has been reliable for a few years now. Most of what we see is a gasket, a fan motor, or a drain line, and that's a one-visit fix, not a reason to buy new.
