Open heating element. The coil burns through at a weak spot and goes open-circuit. Drum still tumbles, no heat at all. Element plus housing get replaced as a unit on most Samsung electric models.
Cycling thermostat failed open. Element heats but cannot regulate. Either it runs cold or it overheats once and never recovers. Replace the thermostat and verify the high-limit thermostat at the same time.
High-limit thermostat tripped. A safety device that opens permanently when temperatures cross the line. If this trips, the vent is restricted or the blower wheel has cracked off the shaft. Fix the airflow problem first, then replace the thermostat.
Thermistor reading wrong. The thermistor tells the control board the current cabinet temperature. If it drifts or opens, the board sees a bogus reading and shuts heat off as a safety call. Bench-test resistance against the spec sheet to confirm.
Heater relay on the control board. A later-failure pattern, usually after the dryer has had thermal events. The relay welds open and the heater never sees power. Confirm with a meter at the relay before swapping the board, since a board is a $300+ part.
