GE MONOGRAM REFRIGERATOR · PLEASANTON
GE Monogram refrigerator not making ice in Pleasanton? We fix it.
A GE Monogram that has stopped making ice is usually one part in the water or the freeze side, not a dead refrigerator. On built-in Monogram columns and side-by-sides the ice system runs off the same defrost and airflow the rest of the box depends on, so a no-ice call sometimes traces to a warm freezer, not the ice maker itself. We find which one before we quote a part.
We handle GE Monogram refrigerator not making ice repairs across Pleasanton, from Ruby Hill, Castlewood, Vintage Hills to the surrounding neighborhoods. Pleasanton is a 15-minute hop down 680. Same or next-day on most weekday calls.

Why this happens
What we look for first.
- Frozen fill tube. The small tube that feeds water to the ice mold ices over from a slow drip or a weak fill, and once it plugs no water reaches the maker. You get a maker that cycles but drops nothing, sometimes a slug of ice down the back wall. We thaw the tube, find why it froze, usually a weak inlet valve, and fix the cause so it does not freeze back up.
- Weak or dead water inlet valve. The inlet valve is the solenoid at the back that opens to fill the mold. The coil burns out or the screen behind it silts up, and fills go short or stop. Symptom is small partial cubes or an empty maker. We meter the coil and check water pressure at the valve before we replace it.
- Ice maker module or optical sensor fault. The module runs the harvest and reads the bin level. When the gears strip or the sensor reads a false full, the maker stops ejecting or never starts a cycle. We run a forced harvest and meter the module before condemning it, since the sensor or bail arm is a cheaper fix.
- Warm freezer starving the ice mold. This is the Monogram-specific one. If the freezer side has drifted warm from a defrost fault, a stalled evaporator fan, or a sealed-system loss, the mold never gets cold enough to harvest, so the maker fills and never drops. The tell is soft or partial cubes alongside a freezer that is not holding. We verify freezer temperature and check the evaporator and defrost before touching the ice maker.
- Clogged water filter or low supply pressure. A filter months past due, a barely-open supply valve, or a reverse-osmosis line without a booster starves the maker so it makes thin cubes or none. We test flow with the filter bypassed and read static pressure before replacing any ice-maker parts.
How we diagnose and fix it
The walk-in workflow.
- 01
Pull the model and serial and confirm whether it is a freezer arm-style maker or an in-door dispenser maker.
- 02
Check the water filter age and static supply pressure, including any saddle valve or reverse-osmosis connection.
- 03
Force a harvest cycle and watch it: does the maker eject, does the valve open, does water reach the mold.
- 04
Inspect the fill tube and mold for ice, and read the freezer temperature to rule out a warm freezer starving the mold.
- 05
If the freezer is warm, check the evaporator, the fan, and the defrost system before the ice maker, then quote the confirmed part and labor in writing.

Typical
Most Monogram ice repairs land at $285 and up with the part installed: a thawed fill tube, a water inlet valve, or a sensor sit at the lower end, and a full ice maker module runs higher. If the real problem is a warm freezer from a defrost or sealed-system fault, that is the larger job and we price it against the not-cooling work. The $75 diagnostic includes the full check, and you get the exact part and labor in writing before we start.
-
Warranty
You get a parts and labor warranty in writing before we start. Consumable parts like a water filter carry around 90 days, and major components like the inlet valve and the ice maker module carry 1 year. Sealed-system work, when a warm freezer turns out to be the cause, carries our 2-year repair warranty. Everything on paper up front.
FAQ
GE Monogram Monogram fridge in Pleasanton questions.
-
My Monogram ice maker fills but the cubes are soft or hollow. Why?
That points at the freeze side, not the maker. If the freezer has drifted warm from a defrost fault or a stalled evaporator fan, the mold never gets cold enough to harvest a solid cube. We read the freezer temperature and check the evaporator and defrost before we touch the ice maker, because swapping the maker on a warm freezer fixes nothing. -
The dispenser still pours water but my Monogram makes no ice. What is that?
When water still dispenses, the supply side is fine and the fault is in the freeze or harvest circuit: a frozen fill tube, the ice maker module or its sensor, or a freezer that is not cold enough to harvest. We force a harvest cycle to see exactly where it stalls and sort it in the first part of the call. -
Is a no-ice Monogram worth fixing?
Almost always. It is one part in the water or freeze circuit, not a failing refrigerator, and a built-in Monogram is built to be serviced for years. We diagnose the exact cause and put the number in writing first so you decide with a real figure in front of you. -
Are you local for Monogram ice maker repair?
Yes. We run the Tri-Valley and the East Bay every day out of San Ramon. Call (925) 999-4095 and we will book the soonest window and confirm it. The $75 diagnostic is waived when you go ahead with the repair.
