Heating & cooling
AC & HVAC repair in Rodeo.
Compact heating and cooling repair for Rodeo's small homes and townhomes on San Pablo Bay.
Rodeo sits on the eastern shore of San Pablo Bay, served by Interstate 80 and State Route 4, with rolling grassland, wooded ravines and shoreline around it. The Bayo Vista and Oleum area is mostly small to mid-size single-family homes and townhomes, many built between 1940 and 1969 and some older. That sets up the work here: compact houses, compact equipment, and not much room to put anything new.
A small house of that age was built around a wall furnace or a floor furnace, or later got a small forced-air furnace in a hall closet with short duct runs. In a townhome the furnace or air handler may share a closet with the water heater, and the outdoor unit may sit on a narrow pad against a shared wall. Service clearances are tight in both cases, and replacement equipment has to physically fit the space before anything else matters.
We also take calls in Crockett and Port Costa, the neighbors along the strait. Every visit starts with a $99 diagnostic, credited toward the repair when you give the go-ahead, and a written quote before work begins. ADRIUM's CSLB license is #1136642, and refrigerant work is done under the company's EPA 608 Universal certification.
Small furnaces in small closets
A closet furnace in a compact home runs hotter than it should when the closet door has too little louver area or the return is undersized. Limit switches trip, rollout switches open, and the furnace short-cycles until something fails. On a diagnostic we check the return air path and the filter, measure the temperature rise across the furnace, and inspect the heat exchanger. If the furnace is sound, the fix may be as simple as more return air and a new limit switch. Wall and floor furnaces get the same care: thermocouple, pilot, gas valve, and a venting check before we relight. See furnace repair.
Grass seed, dust and salt air on outdoor coils
The grassland around Rodeo dries out in summer, and the wind carries dust, seeds and chaff into condenser and heat pump coils. A matted coil cannot shed heat, head pressure climbs, and capacitors and compressors take the strain. Units closer to the shoreline also deal with salt air, which corrodes fins and cabinet panels over time. We clean coils as part of HVAC maintenance, straighten fins where they can be saved, and test the capacitor and contactor while the panel is open. When a coil has corroded through and started leaking refrigerant, we show you what a repair would involve against a replacement.
Heat pumps and ductless in tight houses
For a small Rodeo house, a heat pump can be the most sensible replacement for a worn wall furnace or closet furnace: one outdoor unit provides heating and cooling, and there is no flue to maintain. Where there are no ducts, a one- or two-head ductless system does the job without opening walls, and ADRIUM is factory-trained on Mitsubishi and Daikin ductless lines. In a townhome, we confirm clearances and any association requirements for the outdoor unit before quoting. The full scope, from the electrical circuit to the line set route, goes in writing through HVAC installation.
Common questions, Rodeo.
- Do you also work in Crockett and Port Costa?
Yes. We take HVAC calls in Crockett and Port Costa as well as Rodeo, with the same $99 diagnostic credited toward the repair and a written quote before work. Tell us the address and any access details when you book.
- My townhome furnace keeps shutting off after a few cycles. What causes that?
In a closet furnace, short cycling often comes from restricted airflow: a clogged filter, a blocked or undersized return, or a dirty blower. The furnace overheats and a limit switch shuts it down. We measure the airflow and temperature rise, then fix the cause instead of only replacing the switch.
- Is a ductless heat pump practical for a small Rodeo house?
Usually, yes. Small homes need little capacity, and one or two ductless heads can heat and cool the main living areas with no ductwork. We size the system to the house, check that the electrical panel can carry it, and quote the whole job in writing. ADRIUM holds EPA 608 Universal certification and CSLB #1136642.
