Albany's tight lots don't leave room for many full custom ranges, so when a kitchen here gets upgraded, Z-Line's Autograph Edition is often the way in, especially on 30 inch models sized for the bungalows along the Marin Avenue grid. We also see it in the larger remodels on Albany Hill and near UC Village. It goes in quiet and runs for years, then the broiler call comes: the oven bakes normally, the broiler won't fire, and the older non-digital ranges don't throw a code to explain it.
The ignitor and thermocouple kit for that broiler rides on the truck, since the infrared element runs hot enough to take both parts out at the same time, so we close it in one visit. The other common Albany ticket is the range hood over a Z-Line or paired appliance kitchen. People assume the blower died, but the actual failure is almost always the capacitive touch pad, where grease works into the seam and the speed settings start cutting out. We clean and reseal the pad before we ever consider the control board.

- Broiler ignitor and upper thermocouple. Common on 30 inch and larger Autograph ranges fitted into Albany's smaller kitchens. The two parts wear out together. We swap both parts and bench-test the gas valve's micro-switch while everything's apart.
- Hood capacitive touch-pad repair. Grease gets into the seam of the touch pad and the speed buttons start missing presses. We clean and reseal it, and only replace the control board if the sensors test dead. The blower motor is rarely the actual problem.
- Convection fan running after oven shutoff. Early production dual-fuel ranges have the cool-down thermistor mounted in the wrong spot. We install the relocation bracket. Filed the right way, that part is covered under Z-Line's warranty.
- Refrigerator ice-maker assembly. Z-Line refrigerators sit on a standard residential platform, and most Albany calls come down to the ice-maker module or a door seal that's out of alignment on a panel-ready unit. We order the seal to the exact panel part number.

How long does it take you to reach Albany from San Ramon?
We run Albany on the same Inner East Bay days as Berkeley and Richmond, and the drive is 40 to 45 minutes via 580 or Highway 24 to 80. Booked windows get a written arrival time before we head out. -
The oven still bakes but the Z-Line broiler won't light. Is that normal?
It's the most common Z-Line failure we see. The broiler's infrared element runs hot and wears out the ignitor and upper thermocouple together, while the bake burner keeps working. We stock the kit and replace both in one visit. -
Do you file Z-Line warranty claims?
Yes, our Z-Line Authorized status lets us submit claims straight to the factory. In warranty, we do the paperwork. Out of warranty, the $75 diagnostic applies and is waived when you book the repair.
