What we close on the truck.
- Flame sensor lights then drops out. This is the most common York call in Alameda and it gets worse with the coastal damp. The burner lights, runs a few seconds, then shuts down because the sensor cannot prove the flame. I clean or replace the sensor and check the flame current draw so it holds steady.
- Hot surface ignitor cracked. The York ignitors get brittle after years of light cycling, then crack and stop glowing. No glow means no light-off. I carry the matching ignitor for the common York furnaces, so this is usually a same-visit fix.
- Control board relay failure. Salt air finds its way to the board and corrodes the relay contacts, so the blower or ignition does not fire on command. I test the board before swapping it, because sometimes it is just a connector, and a York board is not cheap.
