Wolf is one half of the Sub-Zero, Wolf, and Cove family, and on our schedule the cooking calls run about even with the refrigeration side. In Alameda that usually means a Wolf range in a remodeled Victorian off Grand Street or a dual fuel unit in one of the newer Bay Farm kitchens. The island has a lot of older gas lines and older wiring, and Wolf equipment shows problems differently on marginal power than it does in new construction, so I check supply before I blame the appliance.

The single most common Wolf call we run anywhere, Alameda included, is the M Series oven ignitor. Bake will not light, and the broiler may or may not still work because it sits on its own circuit. Owners often assume the whole oven died. It did not. It is one part, and we stock it on the van.

M Series oven ignitor replacement. This is the top Wolf failure in our book. The bake burner will not light, the oven never comes to temperature, and the broiler sometimes still fires because it runs on a separate circuit. The ignitor draws current but never reaches ignition temperature. Replacement is straightforward when you know the disassembly order, and we carry the part.
Rangetop spark modules that click nonstop. Alameda's salt air is not kind to spark electrodes. On GR series rangetops we see continuous clicking after a wet cleaning or corrosion on the electrode tips near the shoreline homes. Sometimes it dries out. When it does not, the spark module or an individual igniter needs replacement, and I test each burner circuit rather than guessing.
Sagging oven door hinges. Wolf oven doors are heavy, and in older island houses that see decades of daily baking the hinges wear until the door no longer seals at the top. You lose heat, bakes run uneven, and the trim above the door gets hot. New hinge assemblies and a gasket check restore the seal.
