Common repairs we handle.

The only heater in the house will not light. When the pilot is out and will not relight, the likely causes are a clogged pilot orifice, a failed thermocouple or a gas valve that no longer opens. We test them in that order, replace what failed, and cycle the furnace several times before we leave.
Rust on the burner from a leaky vent top. A missing or damaged cap on the vent lets rain run down into the furnace. The burner and pilot rust, the flame turns ragged, and the pilot may go out in wet weather. We check the vent top, clean or replace the rusted burner parts, and quote a new cap if the old one is gone.
Wall thermostat no longer calling for heat. An old wall thermostat with worn contacts, or a wire loosened inside the wall, stops sending the call. The pilot is lit and the furnace is fine, but nothing happens. We test at the thermostat and at the valve, then clean, repair or replace the thermostat.
