I confirm power through the thermostat and limit, test the valve coil and body, and replace it with the correct Williams-spec valve at proper manifold pressure.
- Cracked heat exchanger on aged units. Many Oakland units are 40 plus years old and the steel exchanger cracks or rusts through. That vents combustion into the home and is a hard safety stop. I inspect it every visit and, if it is failed, I quote a replacement rather than patching an unsafe unit.
