Albany's housing is almost all original, compact 1920s to 1940s stucco and wood bungalows on small lots along the Marin Avenue grid. - Yellow lazy flame and soot. Years of light idling in the marine layer leave carbon and dust in the burner, and the flame turns yellow and sooty. We scrub out the burner and orifices, then check for a tight blue flame and solid draft before we call it done.

Not the only option. A Williams wall furnace is the simplest like-for-like fix for a ductless older bungalow.
