- Evaporator fan motor bearing failure. A grinding or squealing noise from the top of the cabinet, then uneven temperatures top to bottom, is the classic Traulsen fan motor death. Deli and market cabinets that run 24/7 wear the bearings out fastest. We replace the motor with the correct spec unit, check blade condition and mounting, and verify airflow restores even temperature through the whole box.
- Neglected condenser coils and thermal cutouts. Years of dust and kitchen grease on the top-mounted coil make the compressor run hot until the internal overload starts tripping on warm afternoons. The complaint sounds intermittent, which sends people chasing electrical ghosts. We clean the coil, confirm the overload behavior stops, and set the owner up with a realistic cleaning interval for that specific kitchen.
- Worn gaskets and frame heater failures on freezer models. On Traulsen freezer reach-ins, a torn gasket or a dead frame heater wire shows up as frost buildup around the door opening and ice on the evaporator. We test the heater circuit with a meter rather than guessing, replace the gasket with the correct profile, and confirm the frame stays dry after the repair.
