Run capacitor failure in summer heat. Pleasant Hill condensers run flat out in July and August, and the run capacitor is the first part to go when the unit is working that hard. The compressor will not start and the house heats up fast. I keep the right capacitors on the truck so it is a same-visit fix.
Overheating compressor from dirty coils. When the outdoor coil gets caked with valley dust and yard debris, the Trane compressor cannot shed heat and trips on high pressure during the hottest part of the day. I clean the coil and check the charge so the unit can actually keep up with the heat out here.
Furnace igniter failures on aging ranch units. On the older Trane furnaces in Gregory Gardens, the hot surface igniter cracks and you get no heat on the first cold morning. It is a common, fast replacement. I check the gas valve and flame sensor at the same time so the furnace lights clean.
