Trane in Martinez

Trane heating and cooling in Martinez.

Martinez mixes old and new. The historic downtown near the waterfront has a lot of older homes, some with wall furnaces and original undersized ducts, while the hillside neighborhoods up away from the strait are newer with proper central systems. A Trane install in the old part of town sometimes means a ductless retrofit rather than a duct fight.

The climate here is Diablo Valley warm in summer with some marine influence off the Carquinez Strait, so the cooling load is moderate and the outdoor units near the water can pick up corrosion. The older homes lean heating-heavy, which keeps the furnace ignition and inducer parts in the rotation.

Our HVAC division is Bay Area HVAC Service. I am EPA Section 608 Universal certified, we hold CSLB #1136642, and the $75 diagnostic is waived with the repair. Written quote before work, and we run seven days.

Common repairs we do

What we close on the truck.

  • Ductless retrofit faults in older downtown homes. The historic Martinez homes often have wall furnaces and no real ducts, so the Trane systems there are ductless. The common calls are a clogged condensate line on the indoor head or a comms fault to the outdoor unit, which I clear or trace rather than chase a missing duct.
  • Outdoor unit corrosion from strait marine air. Near the Carquinez Strait the damp air pits the contactor points and corrodes the coil and compressor terminals on a Trane condenser. I clean and treat the coil, replace burned contactor points and check the terminals before corrosion turns into a no-start.
  • Furnace inducer and pressure switch on the heating load. Martinez winters give the Trane furnace solid run time, and the draft inducer motor and pressure switch are common failures. When the furnace locks out before ignition, I test the inducer draw and the switch against a clear flue path before swapping parts.

FAQ

Trane in Martinez questions, answered.

  • How far is Martinez from your San Ramon shop?
From San Ramon to Martinez is about 30 to 40 minutes up the 680. We also cover Pleasant Hill and Concord on the way, so if you are near either we can group the trip and tighten the window.
  • My downtown Martinez home has a wall furnace and no ducts. Can I add a Trane heat pump?
Yes, as a ductless mini-split. A lot of the older homes here never had central ducts, so a ductless Trane gives you heating and cooling without a major duct project. We quote the retrofit in writing first.
  • Does the marine air near the strait really damage my outdoor unit?
It does. The damp air corrodes the coil and the contactor points faster than inland. We clean and treat the outdoor unit and catch the contactor before it fails, which keeps the system running and the compressor protected.
