Heat pump defrost and reversing valve faults in marine-layer damp. The same marine layer that sits over Berkeley hangs over Albany too, and it pushes a Trane heat pump into defrost mode more than a drier climate would, leaving the unit blowing cold air instead of heat. Between the valve and the defrost sensor, one of the two is usually the actual cause, and I check both before replacing either.
Ductless mini-split retrofit faults in bungalows and ADUs.
