Condenser Coil Corrosion from Salt Air. Salt air along the Coastside eats into condenser coil fins faster than any inland environment we work in, even on units installed indoors near an ocean-facing wall. Corroded fins lose their ability to shed heat, so the compressor runs longer and hotter to compensate. We inspect the coil, clean what can be saved, and replace fins or the coil assembly when the corrosion has gone too far to fix in place.
Compressor Overheating in Enclosed Cabinetry. Like anywhere else we service, a Summit unit built into cabinetry without side and rear clearance runs its compressor hot until something fails. On the coast, that overheating combines with salt exposure to shorten the compressor's life even further. We check the install and restore clearance where we can, or recommend a front-vent model if the cabinet cannot be changed.

The Coastside's near-constant fog and higher humidity work against Summit door gaskets over time, softening the material and letting the seal fail earlier than it would inland. A failed gasket lets moist air into the cabinet, which raises the internal temperature and can accelerate corrosion inside the unit itself. We provide a written repair estimate after the on-site diagnosis and before any work starts.
