Half Moon Bay is the anchor for the whole Coastside, and we run the same call up Highway 1 into Montara, Moss Beach, and El Granada. Main Street and the harbor side see a mix of older cottages and newer builds, and the Speed Queen TC top-loader is common in both, bought because the salt air off Pillar Point chews through a cheaper machine fast.

That salt air is the real story out here. It gets into the cabinet seams on the back of the machine and into the control board connectors before it ever touches the drum, and we see corrosion on those contacts years before a comparable machine inland would show it. On the FF front-loaders the drain pump housing corrodes the same way, and a clean, dry pump swap is a different job out here than it is in San Ramon.

Control board connector corrosion. Salt air off the coast corrodes the connector pins before the board itself fails. We clean the contacts and reseat or replace the connector, and a full board swap is rare if we catch it early.
FF drain pump housing corrosion. Same salt air, different part. The pump housing pits and the seal fails. We replace the pump and check the cabinet seams for the same corrosion while we are in there.
TC / TR inlet valve. Scaled screens slow the fill same as anywhere on the Peninsula, but out here we also check the valve body for salt pitting at the same visit.
