A lot of the newer homes run Rheem and Ruud forced-air systems, often matched furnace and condenser sets.
San Jose runs warmer than the bayfront cities, especially in the inland east and south, so the AC side gets used hard while the furnaces handle the cool valley mornings. On these Ruud systems I keep the diagnosis straightforward since the equipment is common and predictable.

What we close on the truck.
- Draft-inducer motor failure. On Ruud Achiever and Ultra furnaces the inducer bearings dry out and the furnace locks out on a pressure-switch error. I carry the inducer assembly so I can swap it and confirm proper draft the same visit.
- Condenser capacitor failure. The warmer San Jose summers push the Ruud outdoor unit, and the run capacitor fails so the compressor will not start. I replace the capacitor and verify the charge and amp draw.
- Hot-surface ignitor cracks. The silicon-nitride ignitor cracks and the burner will not light. I install the correct ignitor and run the full ignition sequence to confirm it fires reliably.

Yes, we cover San Jose. It is a longer run down 680, roughly 40 to 55 minutes depending on which part of the city. We pair it with Cupertino, Sunnyvale, Saratoga, and Los Gatos work so the routing makes sense, and we block South Bay jobs together. -
My home is an older Willow Glen bungalow. Do you work on those?
We do. On the older bungalows I service the existing unit, and where there is no duct space I lay out a ductless mini-split. I give you a written quote either way. -
