- Rheem ductless heat pump low on charge. On the mini-split retrofits going into Albany's bungalow remodels, weak heat usually traces to a slow refrigerant leak at a flare joint. We check it under pressure, fix the flare fitting, draw the system down to a vacuum, and charge it back to what the Rheem nameplate calls for.
- Replacing an old wall furnace with a Rheem heat pump head. Many of the Marin Avenue grid bungalows still run their original wall furnace. When it fails the heat exchanger check, we swap it for a Rheem ductless head so the small footprint gets heat and cooling without new ductwork.
- Rheem outdoor unit short-cycling in a tight side yard. Albany's small lots often put the outdoor unit in a narrow side yard with little airflow, and combined with the damp marine layer that can ice the coil. Usually it is a failed defrost sensor or board. I test the defrost cycle and replace the sensor so it runs through without freezing.
