Mitsubishi in Daly City
Mitsubishi in Daly City kitchens.
Daly City is fog country. Most of Westlake, Serramonte, and the streets up around Top of the Hill are Doelger tract homes from the 1950s, built tight together with small mechanical closets and, in a lot of cases, no ductwork at all. A Mitsubishi M-Series head is how these houses get heat and cooling into a bedroom or converted garage without cutting into walls that were never built for ducts.
The marine layer sits over Daly City more than almost anywhere else I service, and it changes how these systems fail. A cold, wet morning pushes the outdoor unit into defrost more often, and when the defrost cycle does not clear the coil properly, the house stops getting heat while the unit still looks like it is running fine from the outside.
We run this out of San Ramon, and a technician based on the Peninsula in San Mateo County covers Daly City along with neighboring Brisbane as regular territory. Book the repair and the $99 diagnostic is credited toward the repair. We put every quote in writing before starting, hold CSLB #1136642 and EPA 608 certification, and work the Peninsula seven days a week.

Common repairs we do
What we close on the truck.
- Head blows cool air on foggy mornings. When the coil ices up in Daly City's damp cold and the defrost cycle does not kick in right, the head keeps running the fan but the air coming out is not warm. I check the defrost sensor reading against the actual coil temperature and look at the reversing valve before I decide anything needs replacing.
- Weak zone in a Westlake garage conversion. A lot of these Doelger garages got finished into a bedroom or office with a single Mitsubishi head added after the fact. If the head was sized off the garage's old footprint and not the finished room with insulation and drywall, it will run constantly and never quite hold setpoint. I check the load calculation before I touch the refrigerant charge.
- Outdoor unit fan noise in a tight side yard. Daly City lots sit close together, and the condenser often ends up in a narrow side yard where leaves and trash blow in. A rattling or humming fan is usually a bent blade or a debris-clogged coil dragging on the motor, not a failed compressor, so I clear it out and check the bearing before quoting a new fan motor.

FAQ
Mitsubishi in Daly City questions, answered.
-
Do you actually cover Daly City, or is it out of your way from San Ramon?
It is regular coverage. We have a technician based on the Peninsula in San Mateo County, so Daly City calls do not depend on someone driving up from San Ramon. We also cover Brisbane, South San Francisco, San Bruno, and Pacifica out of the same coverage area. -
My Westlake house has no ducts. Can Mitsubishi still heat it?
Yes. That is the main reason ductless is common in Daly City. A single M-Series head or an MXZ multi-zone setup heats and cools specific rooms without any duct retrofit through your walls or attic. -
My unit runs nonstop on foggy days but the house still feels cold. Is that normal?
It can happen when the defrost cycle is not clearing the coil properly in the wet cold, and it is worth having checked rather than living with. It is not automatically a sign of a dying compressor, so I read the fault code and check the sensor and valve first.
