Line set undercharged for a hillside rise. On a Belmont hill lot the condenser can sit a full story below or above the head it feeds. If the charge was never corrected for that rise, the head cools or heats weakly even with a clean filter and a healthy compressor. I measure the actual rise and check the charge against it before touching anything else.
Lower-level head shutting off on a clogged drain. A head installed in a lower-level room on a sloped lot depends on its condensate line or pump to move water uphill or out to daylight. When algae builds up in that line, the float switch trips and the head shuts itself off, sometimes after dripping onto the wall first.
