Those machines tend to be original to the house, so we see them fail every way they can. Bravos lid switches, gearbox bearings on the spin side, and Centennial drum-glide drag. On the cooking side the Maytag gas ranges fail at the surface igniter and the electric ones at the bake element, both first-visit fixes. We pull the part and test it before we condemn anything.

- Bravos gearbox and spider. Howling spin and a walking washer. Full gearbox-and-spider job quoted up front. Doing the bearing alone is a six-month callback.
- Centennial dryer glide, belt, idler. Dragging drum and a whining motor. Glides, belt, and idler pulley go in as a kit so the labor is not paid twice.
- MGR/MER range igniter or bake element. Gas burner won't light or the oven won't heat. Surface igniter on gas, bake element on electric. Both first-visit.
- Top-freezer defrost thermostat. Fridge section warms while the freezer holds. Defrost thermostat and evap fan are cheap, stocked parts. 30 minutes.
