Lennox in Alamo

Lennox heating and cooling in Alamo.

Alamo is inland and it gets hot. Summer afternoons off Danville Boulevard run well past what the bay-moderated towns see, so air conditioning here does real work and the AC side of a Lennox system matters as much as the furnace. The housing is large custom homes and estates, often two-story with multiple zones, so we see a lot of staged equipment and zone-damper systems.

For these bigger Alamo homes a Lennox variable-capacity heat pump or a two-stage condenser is a sensible match because it modulates instead of slamming on and off across a 4,000 square foot floor plan. I will still be straight about Lennox parts. The system is efficient and quiet, but the proprietary dealer-restricted parts mean a zone board or a specific compressor contactor can run longer and cost more than a Carrier or Trane equivalent. On a hot Alamo week that wait stings more, so I keep common failure parts moving.

ADRIUM Service Solutions handles HVAC through our Bay Area HVAC Service division. Andrew Kuznetsov, EPA 608 Universal, CSLB #1136642. $75 diagnostic waived with repair, written quotes, 7 days a week.

Common repairs we do

What we close on the truck.

  • Zone damper and zone board faults on multi-zone Lennox systems. Big Alamo homes run zoning, and the Lennox zone control board and damper motors fail with the heat-cool cycling. When one zone stays hot, it is usually a stuck damper or a board output. I test each zone output before ordering, since the board is dealer-restricted and slow to get.
  • Two-stage compressor not staging up in summer heat. On Lennox XC and SL two-stage condensers we see the unit stuck in low stage on a 95-degree Alamo afternoon, so the house never catches up. It can be the staging control, a contactor, or low charge. I diagnose the stage logic instead of just topping off refrigerant.
  • Condensate overflow on attic air handlers. Many Alamo systems sit in the attic, and the Lennox air handler drain pan clogs and the float switch trips the system off in peak heat. I clear the line, flush the pan, and check the secondary float so you are not losing cooling on the hottest days.

FAQ

Lennox in Alamo questions, answered.

  • How fast can you reach Alamo from San Ramon if my AC quits in a heat wave?
Quick. Alamo is one town over from us through Danville, roughly 15 to 20 minutes. We often pair Alamo calls with Danville, Lafayette and Walnut Creek runs, so same-day is realistic when it is hot.
  • My Alamo estate has hot and cold rooms on different floors. Is that a Lennox fix?
Usually it is a zoning or staging issue, not a dead system. We check the zone boards, dampers and whether the two-stage condenser is staging right, then give you a written plan.
  • Is a variable-capacity Lennox worth it for a big Alamo home?
For a large two-story with wide temperature swings, yes, because it modulates instead of cycling hard. The trade-off is part cost and lead time, which I explain before you commit.
