Linear compressor failure on Elite 795 French doors. The LG-built Elite turns up as a secondary unit in a lot of Portola Valley properties, and its linear compressor is the known failure point. It runs, but nothing cools. Sealed system work requires EPA 608 certification, which I hold, and the written quote lays out repairing the compressor against replacing the unit so the numbers are in front of you before you decide.
Ice maker fill tube freezing solid. A weak inlet valve lets water trickle and freeze inside the fill tube, and ice production stops even though the maker itself is fine. Thawing the tube alone just resets the clock, so I replace the valve at the same time I clear the tube.
Evaporator fan failure in guest house units. On the wooded acreage lots out here, a guest house or lower level unit can sit unused for months, and the evaporator fan bearings dry out in that cold and quiet. You end up with a freezer that still holds cold and a fresh food section that drifts warm. Once the model prefix tells me which factory built it, the fan motor itself is an inexpensive part.
