People assume compressor and brace for the worst. Usually it is the sensor or damper motor, a far smaller repair, and I confirm which before quoting.
ADU compact units failing under full-time load. A compact Haier that was designed as a dorm fridge runs as the only refrigerator in a San Jose ADU, and the start components age fast. Click-and-hum with a warm cabinet means relay and capacitor. I replace both and check the condenser clearance in the tight ADU kitchens.
Garage chest freezer gasket and hinge wear. Heavily used family freezers in Berryessa and Evergreen wear the lid gasket where hands lean on the same corner. Frost walls and constant running follow. Gasket replacement with a hinge adjustment restores the seal in one visit.
