Symptoms are reduced throw distance, a musty smell on startup, and sometimes a vibration noise as the imbalanced wheel spins. We pull the blower assembly, clean the wheel off the unit, reinstall, and verify airflow output. We also check the evaporator coil face because in many cases the two failures come together.
- Thermistor fault and erratic temperature control. Gree inverter systems use multiple thermistors for inlet air, outlet air, and coil temperature, and a single failed sensor will throw a fault code and force the unit into a fallback or shutdown mode. On Vireo and Livo units we see the inlet-air thermistor fail after three or four years, usually presenting as a C5 or similar code and inconsistent heating in winter. We test resistance across the sensor at the harness connector, confirm the fault is in the sensor and not the wiring or board, and replace the component. Parts availability on current Gree production lines is reasonable because Gree manufactures its own components, though it runs a step behind what we see from Daikin and Mitsubishi factory channels.
