- Builder-grade Goodman capacitor and contactor failures. The East Dublin subdivisions all got similar builder-grade Goodman units, and they reach capacitor and contactor end of life around the same age. The unit will not start on a hot day. These are quick, cheap parts and I replace them as a pair.
- Refrigerant leaks at field-brazed connections. Fast builder installs sometimes leave weak brazed joints on Goodman line sets, and they leak refrigerant a few years in. I leak-test the connections before recharging, because the joint is the real problem and topping off does not fix it.
- Furnace control board and igniter faults. Goodman furnaces here lock out when the control board or hot-surface igniter fails. The furnace tries to light and quits. I test the igniter ohms and the board outputs to find which one actually failed before replacing parts.
