Fujitsu in Pacifica

Fujitsu in Pacifica kitchens.

Pacifica sits right on the coast, and the salt air off the ocean is not a minor detail here, it is the main thing that shortens the life of outdoor HVAC equipment in this city. Rockaway Beach, Linda Mar, and Sharp Park all sit close enough to catch salt-laden fog most days of the year, and it works on a Fujitsu outdoor unit's coil and hardware every day it sits outside.

A lot of Pacifica homes are older beach cottages and ranch houses with no ductwork, and owners add a Fujitsu head to a bedroom or sunroom for heating, since cooling demand here is genuinely low most of the year. The coastal fog keeps things cool enough that heating, not air conditioning, is the real workload for these systems.

ADRIUM runs Fujitsu service in Pacifica through Bay Area HVAC Service. I am EPA 608 certified and hold CSLB 1136642. Every quote is written, the $99 diagnostic is credited toward the repair, and we schedule 7 days a week, coastal weather or not.

Common repairs we do

What we close on the truck.

  • Outdoor coil fins pitted and leaking from salt fog exposure. Salt air corrodes the aluminum fin stock on a Fujitsu outdoor coil faster in Pacifica than almost anywhere else I service, and once it pits through, small refrigerant leaks start at the coil itself, not just at a fitting. I pressure test to find the leak location, and if the coil is pitted through in more than one spot, I quote a coil replacement instead of chasing pinholes one at a time.
  • Corroded terminals inside the outdoor unit's electrical box. Salt-laden moisture works into the outdoor unit's control box over the years and corrodes the terminal lugs and contactor, which shows up as intermittent failure to start or a unit that runs rough. I clean or replace the corroded terminals and reseal the box better than the factory gasket manages on its own out here.
  • Slow refrigerant leak at the flare where copper meets the aluminum coil stub. Copper line set against an aluminum coil stub sets up a mild galvanic reaction that salt air speeds up, and it shows up as a flare fitting that will not hold a leak check no matter how many times it gets tightened. I remake the flare with fresh material and, where it makes sense, add a dielectric fitting to slow the corrosion down.

FAQ

Fujitsu in Pacifica questions, answered.

  • Living on the coast, will a Fujitsu even hold up here?
Yes, but it needs more attention to the outdoor coil and hardware than the same unit would need inland. I check for early corrosion signs at every Pacifica visit so small pitting gets caught before it turns into a coil replacement.
  • Do you cover Pacifica from San Ramon or is someone closer?
Our Peninsula technician is based in San Mateo and covers the coast side including Pacifica, so this is his regular route rather than a long trip from San Ramon.
  • Is there anything I can do myself to protect my outdoor unit from the salt air?
Rinsing the outdoor coil with fresh water every month or two cuts down on salt buildup between visits. It will not stop corrosion completely, but it slows it down, and I check the coil condition at every service call regardless.
