Condenser coil fin corrosion from salt air. On a Pacifica heat pump or AC condenser that's been sitting a block or two from the water for several years, the aluminum coil fins show visible white corrosion long before a comparable unit inland would. Corroded fins restrict airflow across the coil, which drives up head pressure and cuts cooling or heating capacity, and in worse cases the corrosion works through to a refrigerant leak at a fin-to-tube joint. I check fin condition and airflow at every visit on coastal units and pressure-test for leaks when corrosion is advanced.
Contactor and disconnect contacts pitting early.
