Bryant in Hillsborough
Bryant heating and cooling in Hillsborough.
Hillsborough is large estate homes on big lots, many original from the 1920s through the 1950s with later additions, and newer custom builds mixed in. The Mid-Peninsula climate is mild, so cooling is not extreme, but these homes are big and they run multiple zones. Bryant Evolution variable-speed systems are common because owners want quiet, even comfort across a large floor plan.
With several zones and sometimes more than one air handler, the matched parts on a Bryant communicating system matter a lot. One mismatched board or a lost zone takes part of the house out of comfort. On the older estates the ductwork is often original and undersized, working against the equipment. I map the whole system before diagnosing on a house this size.
HVAC runs through Bay Area HVAC Service, our division. EPA Section 608 Universal, A2L certified for R-454B, CSLB #1136642. Andrew Kuznetsov owns the company out of San Ramon.
Common repairs we do
What we close on the truck.
- Lost zone on multi-zone Evolution estates. Large Hillsborough homes run many Bryant Evolution zones, and one zone board losing communication faults the system. We trace the comm bus zone by zone to find the bad board and put the matched Bryant part back so all zones report.
- Undersized original ductwork starving airflow. Old Hillsborough estates have original ducts that choke the variable-speed Bryant blower, so it runs loud and uneven. We measure static pressure and open up the worst restrictions so the Evolution system can move air the way it is designed to.
- Variable-speed blower module fault. Bryant Evolution air handlers lose the ECM blower module and drop to fixed speed or off. The big floor plan goes uneven. We test the module and motor and replace the matched Bryant part so it ramps smoothly again.

FAQ
Bryant in Hillsborough questions, answered.
-
How long is the drive to Hillsborough from your San Ramon base?
Hillsborough is across the bay from us, about 45 minutes to an hour over the Dumbarton and up the Peninsula. We cover Atherton, Palo Alto and Los Altos Hills nearby, so we group Peninsula estate calls together when we can. -
My estate runs several Bryant zones. Will you service the whole system?
Yes. We map every air handler and zone first and treat the comm bus as one network. On a large home the fault is usually a single zone board, and we trace it rather than guess across the whole house. -
The system is loud and uneven in my older estate. Why?
Often the original ductwork is too small for the variable-speed Bryant blower, which makes it loud and uneven. We measure static pressure and relieve the worst restrictions so the air moves the way the system expects.
