Bryant in Atherton
Bryant heating and cooling in Atherton.
Atherton homes are large and the systems are large with them. Many estates run several Bryant Evolution air handlers feeding eight or ten zones across the house, plus the guest house. When you have that many communicating zones, the matched parts matter. Bryant communicating controls do not tolerate mixed components, and on a system this size one wrong board can take down a whole wing.
The Mid-Peninsula climate is mild, so cooling is not brutal here. What Atherton owners care about is quiet and even temperature. A Bryant Evolution variable-speed system holds a steady output and runs soft, which is why so many estates here have them. When they drift loud or uneven, it is usually the variable-speed blower module or a zone that lost communication.
We run HVAC through Bay Area HVAC Service, our division. Andrew Kuznetsov owns the company, based in San Ramon, CSLB #1136642, EPA Section 608 Universal, and A2L certified for R-454B so the newer equipment is covered.
Common repairs we do
What we close on the truck.
- Variable-speed blower module dropout. Bryant Evolution variable-speed air handlers use an ECM module that can fault and drop the blower to a fixed low speed or off. The house goes uneven and loud. We test the module and the motor windings and replace the matched Bryant part, not a generic ECM.
- Lost zone communication on multi-zone estates. With eight or ten zones on Bryant Evolution, one zone board losing communication throws the whole system into a fault. We trace the comm bus zone by zone to find the bad board or connection and put the matched board back so all zones report again.
- Variable-speed compressor staging stuck. Evolution variable-speed compressors should ramp smoothly. When the staging gets stuck on high, the system is loud and short cycles. We check the outdoor control and the charge, since an off charge confuses the staging logic on these systems.

FAQ
Bryant in Atherton questions, answered.
-
How long is the drive to Atherton from your San Ramon base?
Atherton is across the bay from us. From San Ramon it is about 45 minutes to an hour over the Dumbarton, routing through the Peninsula near Palo Alto. We cover Hillsborough, Palo Alto and Los Altos Hills nearby, so we can group Peninsula calls together. -
My estate has many Bryant zones. Will you service all of them as one system?
Yes. We map the whole Evolution system, every air handler and zone, and treat the comm bus as one network. On large systems the fault is usually one zone board, and we trace it rather than guessing. -
Can you keep the system quiet like it was new?
That is what the Bryant variable-speed gear is for. When it gets loud it is usually the ECM blower module or a charge issue confusing the staging. We fix the root cause so it runs soft again.
