The Breville machines I see here are the higher-end prosumer line, mostly Oracle and Dual Boiler, sitting in serious kitchens and running every morning before a commute down 880 or 237.

The failure that brings most Milpitas calls is heat. An Oracle or Dual Boiler that hums, runs for a few seconds, then goes cold usually tripped its thermal cutout or lost a thermostat, not the whole machine. I test the boiler element, the cutout, and the wiring before anyone talks about replacement.

Common repairs we do

What we repair on the bench.

No heat after a few seconds of running. Breville's dual-boiler machines protect each boiler with a thermal cutout. When one opens, the pump still runs but the water stays cold, so people think the boiler died. On an Oracle or Dual Boiler I meter the cutout and the boiler thermostat cold, check for scale choking flow, and replace the failed part rather than the whole assembly. Most of these come back to life once the right part goes in.
Weak or slow shots on an Oracle or Dual Boiler. When pressure drops on these machines, the cause is usually the pump, the OPV set too low, or, on the Oracle, a grinder feeding an inconsistent dose. I put a gauge on the group, check the pump under load, and confirm the puck is the problem and not the machine before I open anything.
Grinder stalls or runs empty. The built-in conical burr on the Oracle packs with oil and fines over time, and the hopper trap door can stick. I strip and clean the burr carrier, check the DC grinder motor draw, and reset the grind reference so the dose lands where the display says it should.
