- Flame sensor in basement-mounted furnaces. Palo Alto craftsman homes often keep the York furnace in a basement where the flame sensor fouls over a few heating seasons. The burner lights then drops out. I clean the rod, confirm the microamp signal, and it holds steady again.
- Mini-split faults on Eichler retrofits. Where an Eichler got a ductless system because there is no attic for ducts, the indoor head or outdoor unit can throw a fault or stop heating. I diagnose the communication and refrigerant side and repair the actual fault instead of guessing at the whole system.
- Ignitor failure on retrofit York furnaces. When a York furnace was added to an older Palo Alto home with limited airflow, the hot surface ignitor runs hot and cracks. Inducer spins, no ignition. I install the correct ignitor and verify the board timing.
