From San Ramon I take 24 through the Caldecott tunnel into Oakland, usually 30 to 45 minutes depending on tunnel traffic. We also cover Piedmont and Berkeley on that side, so the Inner East Bay is a regular route for us.

Hot-surface ignitor failure. The silicon-nitride ignitor cracks and the burner will not light on the hill-home furnaces. I replace it with the correct part and verify the ignition sequence start to finish.
Draft-inducer motor wear. The inducer bearings dry out and the furnace locks out on a pressure-switch fault. I carry the inducer assembly so I can replace it and confirm proper draft the same visit.
