Rheem in Pacifica

Rheem in Pacifica kitchens.

Pacifica sits right on the coast, and that changes what fails first on a Rheem system. Salt-laden air off Rockaway Beach, Linda Mar, and Sharp Park settles on outdoor condenser coils and cabinet metal every day, and corrosion moves faster here than in any other Peninsula city we cover.

The homes range from the older Fairmont and Manor tract houses up on the hillsides to newer builds closer to the water, and cool coastal temperatures mean these systems lean on the furnace or heat pump heating side more than the cooling side most of the year.

We treat Pacifica as part of the same Peninsula run as Daly City and San Bruno, and we also reach up toward Half Moon Bay. Bay Area HVAC Service, under the ADRIUM Service Solutions name, holds CSLB #1136642 and EPA 608 certification, with a written quote on every visit and a $99 diagnostic that is credited toward the repair, any day of the week.

Common repairs we do

What we close on the truck.

  • Rheem condenser cabinet and fin corrosion from salt air. Salt air off the Pacifica coastline attacks unprotected steel and aluminum fins faster than any inland town we service. I see cabinets rusting through at the base and coil fins pitting to the point airflow drops. I check coil condition and cabinet integrity on every coastal call and recommend a coil cleaning schedule that is tighter than what I would set inland.
  • Contactor and control board corrosion from salt moisture. Fine salt moisture gets into the outdoor unit's control compartment and corrodes the contactor points and circuit board connections, which shows up as intermittent no-cool or no-heat calls that come and go with the weather. I clean the contacts, check the board for green corrosion on the connectors, and reseal the compartment gaskets.
  • Furnace heat exchanger inspection priority in coastal cool. Because Pacifica stays cool most of the year, the furnace runs far more hours here than the AC side does, so I put more weight on a thorough heat exchanger inspection on older units than I would in a hotter inland city where the furnace barely runs.

FAQ

Rheem in Pacifica questions, answered.

  • Since Pacifica is out on the coast, do you actually make it out here regularly?
Yes. Our Peninsula technician is based in San Mateo County and covers the coastside including Pacifica on a regular basis, not as a special trip. I will not promise same-day, but Pacifica gets the same real coverage as San Bruno or Daly City.
  • Is the salt air really going to damage a new Rheem system faster here?
Yes, it is a real factor. Coil fins and cabinet metal corrode faster this close to the ocean, and I check for it specifically on every coastal visit instead of assuming a unit ages the same way it would ten miles inland.
  • Do you go as far as Half Moon Bay from Pacifica?
We reach up toward Half Moon Bay from our Pacifica coverage, so the coastside further south is not out of range either.
