iComfort thermostat losing the air handler. The iComfort S30 and the older Icomfort Wi-Fi heads drop communication with the variable-speed blower when the RSBus wiring corrodes at the terminal. In Milpitas I see it more on units mounted in the garage where the morning damp gets in. I reseat and clean the bus connections and reflash the control if the firmware is stale.
XC25 compressor not staging up. The two-stage and variable XC condensers will run on low stage forever and never satisfy the house on a hot afternoon if the staging signal or the unit control fails. People assume low refrigerant first. I check the high stage call and the inverter board before condemning the compressor, because that board is the dealer-restricted part with the longer wait.
SureLight ignition board cracking on the furnace. The SL280 and ML193 use a SureLight control that develops hairline solder cracks after years of heat cycling. The furnace lights then drops out mid-cycle. I test the board under load rather than cold, since the fault only shows when the solder expands.
