Goodman GSX dual capacitor failure in summer heat. The dual run capacitor on Goodman condensers is the single most common San Jose call once the foothill heat comes. The compressor and fan hum but will not start. We test it, swap the inexpensive part, and confirm both run amps are normal.
Hot-surface igniter failure on Goodman GMS furnaces. These furnaces are all over San Jose's tracts and the silicon nitride igniter is a routine wear item. No heat with a clicking gas valve is the sign. We carry the igniter and the fix is usually one visit.
Goodman control board fault after voltage swings. On hot grid-stressed days the integrated control board can throw a fault and stop the furnace or air handler. The board flashes a code. The part is inexpensive on Goodman, so we replace it without a big bill.
